BIOGRAPHY
Jolon Dante grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia. He started his career in the entertainment business as a camera assistant. While a member of IATSE 669 Photographer's Guild, he worked on many Hollywood productions from: Steven Spielberg's "Taken" to Disney's "A Wrinkle in Time". He learned a lot about how movies were made from behind the camera. His on-set experience gave him a vital understanding and a confidence to finally make the bold decision to pursue acting full-time. He began taking acting classes after high school. He studied at the Shakespeare Centre in Vancouver, which proved to be a very grounding and visceral experience for Jolon. He has trained intensively ever since and, in 2007, graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Jolon was then hand selected to make up the 2007-2008 Los Angeles Academy Company. At the Chaplin Theatre in Hollywood, he performed in several plays in front of a consistently packed house for a solid 9 months: performances in Richard Brinsley Sheridan's 'The Rivals' and Lanford Wilson's 'The Rimers of Eldritch', just to name a few. He has been quite successful in other budding dominions of the performing arts. As a decorated black-belt, he won two silver medals at the Canadian Tae-Kwon-Do National Championships. At the age of 9 he garnered the title of youngest back-belt in Canada. General Choi Hong Hi, the late founder of the martial art, witnessed this accomplishment; it was a moment Jolon would never forget. Jolon's athleticism also made him a highly devout and thriving soccer player. He played four years at a professional and semi-professional club level in Den Haag, Holland. All of Jolon's life experiences originate out of his love of performing and developing his craft for the best possible performance. His life in Los Angeles has been very productive and educational, with a strong emphasis on the business side of acting. He was an active member with the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (ATAS), and also vigorously pursued workshops with casting directors and acting coaches; all with the intent to network, to improve as an actor, and purely for the love of it! Jolon has recently moved back to Vancouver, where he hopes to continue to build on his successes. |
